P’Bird is back!

So our superstar P’Bird Thongchai is back! When I say ‘superstar’ I really mean it, just ask all the Thai celebrities that gets all giddy when they meet P’Bird. His full name is Bird Thongchai McIntyre, just do a simple google search on him and you’ll know who he is. I swear that P’Bird never ages! The man is 59 freaking years old! Holy soybeans, time goes by fast! Just yesterday, I feel like… the media was going crazy over him turning 50! Next year he’ll turn 60!?!?!?! You’ve got to be kidding me! It must be the Chiangmai weather that has kept him looking so young and healthy!

Anyways, P’Bird’s new project ‘Mini Marathon’ seems to gather many talented artists in one album! ‘A Single Life’ is the first song I’ve listened to from this new album and it’s a very good song. Yes, it speaks of the typical ‘I am lonely and waiting/searching for that special someone’, but what makes it special is that it’s written by our most talented band Getsunova and sung by P’Bird! I’m sure you’ve all heard of Getsunova, if you have not then please go search for them on youtube! All their songs are popular and all for good reasons.

‘A Single Life’ speaks of a person who is lonely and is slowly being consumed by loneliness, wishing that someone would come along to wipe those feelings away from his heart. Even if he is on a path filled with emptiness, he doesn’t lose hope and knows that one day that special person will appear. It gives me a feeling of reassurance that there is always someone for anyone that is waiting/searching.

P’Bird’s voice is so distinct that his fans can recognize it the second he starts to sing, this song is no different. Getsunova’s ‘pop-rock, electric-pop’ music style is also the band’s signature, and it matches so well with P’Bird’s voice. We also get Name the lead singer’s voice accompanying P’Bird also. Yes, his name is Name… I know, Thais and their weird nicknames. This song is very simple and easy to listen to, a nice break from all those hidden meanings within a song kinda-type.

The music video itself is also very well filmed. I am in no way educated in cinematography, but I just like what I see! Also, I am an experienced MV watcher! LOL! Which basically means I spend unimaginable amounts of time watching music videos on youtube… so, I’m well qualified to say what’s good and what’s not, right? ^_^

Anyway… I can’t wait to hear more from this album, I have a feeling I will be doing more of these little ‘ratings’ if you want to call it. If I have to rate this song I’d give it a solid 7.5 out of 10. I’ll definitely be adding this to my music list. Do give it a try! I subbed it for those that aren’t ‘fluent’ in Thai. ^_^
